Pause a managed account when it’s time to step away. It becomes read-only until you turn activity back on.
Family controls show permissions and account access. They don’t open your child’s chats for you to read.
Sign in to your own adult account, then open Settings → Family. You can create a child account there. Use their real date of birth so the right account rules apply.
For a linked, managed child account, you can choose friends-only or no-one direct messages and pause activity. You can also delete a child account you created, after confirming your identity.
No. Family settings don’t provide access to the child’s messages. Encourage them to show you anything that makes them uncomfortable.
Joying asks for age information and requires guardian consent for accounts under 13. An account waiting for consent is restricted. Permission requirements can also depend on where your family lives.
